SCAPES

Much like winter growth brewing quietly underground before surfacing, a recent period of deep immersion and reflection has taken my practice in an exhilarating new direction. This shift has sparked a distinct body of work defined by looser, bolder mark-making. By scraping, bleeding, and building translucent layers of oil paint, I aim to lay bare the multitude of textures and histories hidden beneath the surface, exploring the delicate balance between nature’s abundance and its inherent fragility. I build and rework the surface, allowing form, color, and texture to shift until a final balance emerges. Here, abstraction and figuration intersect, capturing the liminal space between perception and memory.
